It’s getting cold, so it must be November.
Did you know November is National Novel Writing Month,
Diabetes Awareness Month, and National Adoption Month?
Here are five things you must do in November.
1.
Design and order your
Christmas cards and mail them out. Get a jump on your holiday
preparations. If you do a family portrait for the holiday don’t
wait until the last minute.
There is nothing worse than long lines and waits to get
into the photo studio.
Not to mention the stress of if the photos will return in
time to send them out.
A very good friend of mine was living away from
his home state around the Christmas season and he was lonely.
He only got one card that year, mine and my card didn’t
arrive until after the holiday.
I had never been very prompt with getting them out, but
after hearing how excited he was I decided to never be late again.
Since then I get my cards ready in November and
I send them out the day after Thanksgiving.
People feel the love and enjoy them for a long time.
I take pride in being the first card they get every year.
2.
Make a big pot of Chili.
This hearty dish is tasty and filling.
I love to make a big crock pot of Chili and invite friends
over to watch a football game.
We laugh, eat and play some touch football if the weather
is good.
Our
Family Recipe
You’ll need:
2 Green peppers
2 pounds of hamburger
2 Chili seasoning packets
1 Can of dark red kidney beans
1 Can of light red kidney beans
2 Large sweet onions
2 Cans crushed tomatoes
1 Can whole tomatoes cut up.
¼ cup garlic powder
Just brown and drain the hamburger.
Cut up the peppers and onions into bite size chunks and
brown them. Then add
all your ingredients to the pot or crock pot.
I like to cook it in a crockpot on high for 2 hours, and
then keep it on medium until the party when I lower it to Keep
Warm.
I make a chili bar with delicious toppings like
crackers, sour cream, cheese, extra onions, and croutons.
It’s so easy to make and everyone goes nuts for it.
Try it today.
3.
Thanksgiving Preparations.
Clean out your cubbards early in the month.
It’s time to check the back of the pantry and look at
expiration dates and what you don’t or won’t eat.
Throw away the expired items and donate the rest to a soup
kitchen or food bank.
You’ll make room for your Thanksgiving supplies and help out a
family in need.
Next bring out your
decorations and clean your table clothes and holiday towels.
It will get you in that generous family mood.
If you aren’t having the holiday at your home, help someone
who is having guests.
Get out your recipe cards and find what you’d
like to make. A whole
meal or a dish to take and share.
Or for those of you with no cooking talent or inclination
to do so order your pies and food from your caterer, local grocery
store, or favorite restaurant.
For those of you alone for the holiday find some
new friends and a place to socialize for free here at
www.meetup.com.
Enjoy your Holiday!
4.
Football Time.
Get a group of friends and family together, all ages can
participate for a game of football, can be touch football for
family friendly games.
Older family members can cheer, keep score and take video
for you. Younger
members can run passes, hold the ball for kicks and chase after
runaway balls.
5.
Write a Novel.
I make it sound so easy don’t I?
Everyone has a good story in them, fiction or fact.
November is National Novel Writing Month, you can start
anytime after Nov 1st at 12am and write 50,000 words or
more by the end of the month.
