 Michigan has passed the “Smoke Free Air Law” and I couldn’t be happier.  This will take effect May 1^st, 2010.  Smoking will be banned in all restaurants, bars, and businesses, including hotels and motels.  This means no more second hand smoke and smelly clothes for me. http://www.michigan.gov/mdch/0,1607,7-132-2940_2955_2973_55026---,00.html

I have been fortunate to live in California when they passed the same law and again in CT when they banned smoking.  When I recently moved back to MI I was saddened to see children sitting in restaurants inhaling the second hand smoke.  I was always upset that in MI the smoking and non smoking section meant if there was an ashtray n the table or not.  Sometimes my non smoking table was right up against a smoking table.  In most states it meant separate areas or rooms and most had ventilation systems.  Mi thinks a half partition between tables suffices.
