Michigan has passed the “Smoke Free Air Law”
and I couldn’t be happier. This will take effect May 1st,
2010. Smoking will be banned in all restaurants, bars, and
businesses, including hotels and motels. This means no more
second hand smoke and smelly clothes for me.

I have been fortunate to live in California
when they passed the same law and again in CT when they banned
smoking. When I recently moved back to MI I was saddened to see
children sitting in restaurants inhaling the second hand smoke. I
was always upset that in MI the smoking and non smoking section
meant if there was an ashtray n the table or not. Sometimes my
non smoking table was right up against a smoking table. In most
states it meant separate areas or rooms and most had ventilation
systems. Mi thinks a half partition between tables suffices.
Until May 1st those of us who want
to live smoke free can find businesses already practicing right
here…
